Plano: Week 5: Recap by Asher Feltman
7:00: Easy Money 93 (5-0), MMG 73 (2-3)
MMG’s big test wasn’t a failure, but they didn’t grade above a C. Call it a D-. Easy Money came to play against a team that wants to be in the conversation of the league’s elite but isn’t yet.
Player of the Game: Brandon Barkley
Barkley had 29 points and 10 rebounds with three of both steals and assists. Kevin “Chip” Green can be streaky, but when he’s on he is on. He scored 34 and made 8-of-12 three-pointers. Maxx Nakwaasah stayed hot with 24 points and 12 rebounds (four offensive).

8:00: Giv3 N’ Go 94 (4-1), Tropics 77 (2-3)
G&G took care of a so far average Tropics team who didn’t put up much of a fight this week. What they do from week to week is anyone’s guess. But to bet on them is a risky play.
Player of the Game: Brad McCallan
All five starters scored double figures and six players had nine or more points for Giv3 N’ Go. McCallan led the way with 21 and also grabbed a team-high six rebounds. He shot 15 free throws, making 10. For the Tropics, Lorenza Marshall shot 9-of-14 to score 21 as well.

8:00: The Soldiers 84 (5-0), Golden Gophers 69 (0-5)
As expected, The Soldiers remained undefeated against the winless Gophers. However, The Soldiers actually trailed this game at the half, 32-31, before outscoring their opponent by 21 in the second half.
Player of the Game: Jesse Wilson
The veteran big man had a dominant night, posting a huge double-double of 25 points and 13 rebounds. He also blocked three shots. Ram Haddas had 19. For the Gophers, all five starters scored 10 or more points. Grant Goodwin had a season-high 21 points. One of the youngest players in the league, let’s see if he can build on this going forward.

9:00: Torch 89 (2-3), Contract Killers 87 (1-4)
After three straight losses, the Torch defeated a team that have been on a deep descent since last year’s playoff run. Needing overtime, this game was the highlight of the night.
Player of the Game: Kreston Martin
Martin regained efficiency and shot 10-of-15 from the field, 4-of-6 from three and has 26 points as well as seven boards. Player to watch Robert Garcia continued his great play with 16 points. The Contract Killers fell but had two big games from mainstay Joey Gladney (23 points, 15 rebounds, four assists) and Justen Overstreet (24 points, 10 rebounds, four on the offensive glass).

9:00: Too Much Sauce 109 (4-1), Black Beatles 97 (0-5)
Too Much Sauce continued to roll through the opposition. This week the Black Beatles, who still don’t have a win and allowed 60 points in the second half.
Player of the Game: Austin McMahan
A theme this week, all five starters achieved double figures for TMS. Impressively, no player scored lower than 17 points while McMahan led the team at 28. Bryant Nash had 21 points, 11 rebounds (four offensive). The Beatles lost again, but had some big scoring performances. Byron Weaver (28 points), Kobie Douglas (25) and Kendall Britton (23) all delivered promising performances.
