I’ve decided to stay away from all the Oklahoma City Blue puns… for tonight. The teams square off again Saturday night at Dr Pepper Arena for the Texas Legends’ 2017-2018 home opener and you can count on me having some ready to go then.

The Legends and Blue met up for the first of two straight contests (OKC will visit Austin on Friday before journeying to Frisco) on Tuesday evening, with the Thunder affiliate prevailing 122-118. The fourth game of the season for the Legends wraps up their first road trip of the year and sets course for home court.

Two-way player Johnathan Motley had the first of what promises to be many very big nights in his career. The center played 37 minutes, scoring 27 points while grabbing 13 rebounds (eight offensive boards), making 11-20 shots in the process as well as his first three-pointer of the year. The monster stat line gives the former Baylor Bear his first double-double of the young season.

The backcourt duo of Donald Sloan and Justin Dentmon once again dominated, combining for 50 points and 10 assists between them. Dentmon also swiped a team-high three steals to maintain a three per game average, good for fifth in the G League. Kyle Collinsworth recorded his second consecutive double-digit rebounding game with 11, including five on the offensive glass.

Another day at the office for Jameel Warney —who will rejoin team USA later this month in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers for 2019 along with Sloan— with 13 points and eight rebounds while Brandon Ashley drew the start and rounded out double-figure scorers with 10 points.

J.J. Avila (four rebounds) and rookie John Gillon (four points) also turned in another solid night off the bench after doing so against the South Bay Lakers on Sunday.

Through four games, the Legends are averaging 122 points per game, fourth in the league. The team’s 11.7 steals per game ranks third. Meanwhile, Texas is shooting the most shots per game (96.7) and hitting the second most (45.7). The team’s four games so far have been decided by a total of 19 points.

The Legends make their highly anticipated home debut on the 2017-2018 season Saturday night against the Blue at 730 PM CT.
